Digital x-ray imaging has revolutionized diagnostic radiology.
We utilize a modern digital x-ray system for maximum efficiency and lower radiation doses that also provides the highest resolution digital radiographic image available. Bulky, large x-ray printouts are no longer needed. An electronic copy of your pet’s x-ray will be stored in a computer file and can, as needed, also be stored on CD.
At Veterinary Holistic Care, we use modern laboratory testing to assist with diagnosing and treating most health issues and as an integral part of our wellness program.
Though we perform some tests in-house, most of our tests are sent to the most high-quality laboratories in the country. Whether in-house or out, we always discuss our findings with you so that you can join in making informed decisions about your pet’s treatment plan.
Prosthetics is the science of making external devices used to replace missing body parts. Prostheses are being used for animals with limb deformities (from birth or acquired) and animals requiring limb amputation due to trauma or bone cancer. Use of a prosthesis can return an animal to near normal function.
Derek Campana is an experienced orthotist and prosthetist who has been working with animals for several years. His prosthetics are custom-made for each case. Derek will come to the clinic to create a cast on the patient. He then makes the prosthesis and comes back to fit the patient at a follow-up appointment. His prosthetics are virtually unbreakable and come with a lifetime guarantee.
Orthoses and prostheses, made out of various materials including neoprene and plastic, are used for animals with limb deformities, carpal hyperextension, ligament injuries, and nerve damage (radial nerve paralysis, sciatic nerve damage, and brachial plexus injuries).Ultrasound scanning is used to diagnose many disease processes in small animals. Ultrasound offers a non-invasive, non-painful method for diagnosing and staging many diseases. Ultrasound is the best modality to evaluate fluid filled organs and soft tissue.
Ultrasound allows us to visualize and measure internal abnormalities such as nodules, masses, cysts, and abscesses that cannot always be detected by x-ray. Typical ultrasound examinations require no tranquilization or anesthesia and are easily performed on animals while they are awake. Prior fasting or water withholding is NOT required. The entire scanning process takes 30-40 minutes. Images are acquired on the monitor of the ultrasound machine as well as on film for later viewing.
Ultrasound often allows for earlier diagnoses and a better chance of successful treatment.
